The Journey

I have been reading The 4-Hour Body by Timothy Ferriss and have found it very interesting.  One of the most interesting parts to me is the Slow Carb diet.

The Slow Carb Diet is interesting and a little different… the basic idea is that you eat few carbs and keep your blood sugar from spiking… no white carbs, lots of protein and vegetables… and a mandatory cheat day once per week… Continue reading

Two years ago I wrote about the ‘6 Changes’ program that Leo from Zen Habits started… it is a great concept that unfortunately he has not updated since then… Last year I started a facebook group to help support those that want to make drastic changes to their lives a little at a time using the 6 Changes method…

Well I am trying it again… Continue reading

I am writing this on my phone… On an exercise bike at the YMCA… I have not been here for a long time… Maybe not in the last year…

How did I get here today?
About am hour before I got home I decided to go… Then my body tried everything it could to stop me…. I shaved with my new ‘safety’ razor and cut the heck out of my finger…. Then couldn’t find any of my gym stuff.. on the way here I got a headache… But I’m here! Head pounding… Finger bleeding…. 37 minutes into my ride…

I knew Christmas would be a free for all with the food… And it was… No tracking… Just an orgy of wonderful food… And 9 pounds later I am here…

I have a photo that my son Matthew took of me on July 4th, 2009… I know from my weight tracking that I weighted 390 pounds that day… it is by far the worst picture of me that I have ever seen (there are probably others in existence, but I don’t want to see them)

I am posting it here so I can refer to it in the future… never again!!!

My new projects… first, 365project.org… same old take a picture a daya and have a running record of whatever you are recording… I have wanted to do this for a long time.. and I just started.. Follow my project here!

The other and even more exciting (to me) project is Schemer.com… Schemer is a new Google site that is in Beta testing (I do have some invites left if you are interested)  The official description is “Whether it’s exploring a new city, checking out a friend’s movie recommendations, or just finding new activities for your weekends, Schemer lets you discover new things to do, share schemes with friends, and make the most of your day,”  But that isn’t what I get from it… it is something to integrate with Google+ that allows you to set and check off goals while inspiring others… serious goals, silly goals… Learn to do something new… break a bad habit.. create a good one… go to a specific location… do a specific thing.. you set your ‘schemes’ and check them off as you go…

One of my first schemes was ‘take a walk everyday’… and overnight I have ‘inspired’ 5 people… people I don’t know at all… so what does that do for me?  Makes me feel like maybe I should try harder to succeed to remain an inspiration… so sign up for Schemer and look for me 😉

It has been said before by me that I have regained my motivation, only to have that statement followed by a long silence after it proved to be shortlived.  Well today I am here, writing that I am motivated to lose the weight again!  And this time I feel like I felt when I started the weight loss earlier this year.. and it stuck for some time…

My new short term goals are to lose 30 pounds (374.2 to 344.2), to take a walk everyday and work up to drinking a gallon of water everyday.

There is no trying.. there is no maybe… I am focused and ready to do this!!!

Today I turned 48 years old… had great celebration over the weekend… so I figured today that I should review the year and see what has gone on.

Looking back to my weight in past years:

12/2008:  340.0 lbs
12/2009:  404.6 lbs
12/2010:  415.0 lbs
12/2011:   372.0 lbs

Finished this year on a bad trend.. lost all focus and are not tracking weight watchers at all…

BUT… I am down 43 pounds this year!!!  Some can be attributed to Weight Watchers… some to trying Prozac for weight loss… and some to just controlling myself..

So the cake is done and the ‘celebrating’ is over… back to tracking!!!
